DANURB BOOK CONTRIBUTORS MET IN BRATISLAVA

One of the main outputs of the DANUrB project is the “Book on the unexplored cultural heritage in communities by the Danube”. We are in the final phase of the book preparation and therefore book contributors met at the Faculty of Architecture STU in Bratislava on December 7, 2018. The program was devoted mainly to the detailed discussion of each of the 13 book chapters divided into three sections titled Danube Landscape, Danube Resources and Danube Potentials. Other topics included issues regarding scientific integrity, graphic design, the peer review process, proofreading or printing. We hope to see the book published in May 2019.
 

ACTIVATING CULTURAL HERITAGE IN INTERREG PROGRAMMES, VIENNA DECEMBER 5, 2018

2018 has been the European Year of Cultural Heritage. All year long, and all across Europe, we have been celebrating the rich European cultural heritage and promoted means and methods to foster and preserve it for future generations. Before the end of the year, Interact programme brought Interreg programmes and projects working on cultural heritage together for networking and exchange of experiences. Our DANUrB project was also present. The event titled ‘Activating cultural heritage in Interreg’, enabled the exchange of insights with other Interreg projects focusing on cultural heritage, and facilitated links to additional funding opportunities and additional cooperation alternatives with other European and international organisations.

STAKEHOLDER MEETING IN CALAFAT

On December 13, 2018, the DANUrB project partner National Institute of Research Development in Tourism (INCDT) organized a meeting with local stakeholders at the Cultural House in Calafat in order to identify the main issues within the local cultural heritage and relevant implemented projects that are considered as good practices in the field of cultural heritage valorisation. Such events and activities are crucial for better understanding the specific issues of cultural heritage at local level, presenting main results achieved during project implementation and discussing with stakeholders how they can benefit from these results, thus creating an open relationship between the local community and the public administration.
 

DANURB PERIOD CLOSING MEETING AT PEST COUNTY HALL

The results of the previous period of the DANUrB project were discussed by representatives of the Local Government of Pest County, the DANUrB Team and external experts at the County Hall of Pest on December 13, 2019. Participants talked over the lessons learnt from the Szigetzug Danube Days pilot project and based on that drafted the events for the upcoming period. As the reception of the festival raised in the region really positive responses, Szigetzug Danube days will be organised next summer as well with upgraded program selection and with the possible accession of new municipalities. A similar festival will also be organized on the Northern section of the Danube. Among the rather technical details, the current stage of strategy building, the supervision of datasheets for public use and the spatial data collection were also discussed.

SZIGETZUG AREA – REGIONAL STRATEGY BUILDING WORKSHOP IN RÁCKEVE

As part of the DANUrB spatial studies work package Pest County DANUrB team organised a workshop that was held in Ráckeve with the participation of experts and local stakeholders. Based on previous research and in-depth interviews a heritage shortlist was presented. The main interest was to discover existing development potentials, determine the obstacles and the possible methods of overcoming them. Beyond finding the opportunities, connections and take-off points together, the aim of the workshop was to create common ground for future cooperation. Experts and participants all agreed that the key element of success is to find the local owner of the ideas, people who are dedicated to the implementation of the project from the initial idea to the final product and are able to generate support for it within their communities.
 

DANURB PROJECT WAS PRESENTED AT THE POLICY DIALOGUE MEETING IN ZAGREB, SEPTEMBER 26, 2018

The DANUrB project was introduced at the international Policy Dialogue meeting and workshop "Competitiveness and Innovation for Long-term Transnational Cooperation in the Danube Region in the Field of Bio-Economy" organized in the framework of the international partnership within the project of "Transnational Cooperation for the Transformation of Knowledge into Sustainable Products and Services for the Sustainable Danube Society of the Future - Made in the Danube". It was conducted by the Development Agency of Vukovar - Srijem County(RA VSŽ) and in cooperation with 18 partners from 10 countries.

‘HERITAGE TOUR’ CREATIVE WORKSHOP IN KREMS

We are happy to announce that on January 24th, 2019 the Centre of Architectural Heritage and Infrastructure of Danube University Krems (Austria) together with the Center for Heritage Interpretation (Bulgaria) are organizing a creative workshop ‘Heritage Tour’. The workshop will take place in Krems, Austria and will be dedicated to testing and evaluation of the Pocket Guide city tours developed during the project. For this purpose, we kindly invite young residents, cultural managers, business people, civil servants, pedagogues, civil activists, local historians, people who live in the region and have knowledge about the region and its history to join us and take part in the testing program.

PT2019 CONFERENCE - PECS, HUNGARY, MAY 9-10, 2019

We would like to cordially invite everyone, especially those from academia, to participate in the 6th International Academic Conference on Places and Technologies - PT2019 which will be held in Pecs, Hungary, on May 9-10, 2019. This year’s main topic is: Keeping up with technologies to turn built heritage into the places of future generations. The conference will have a special session dedicated to the DANUrB project on the topic of Heritage, Tourism and the Danube Region. You are more than welcome to join us!
