SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY: WE ARE ON A GOOD PATH, BUT THERE’S STILL A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE

With pilot actions implemented, Sustainable urban mobility plans drafted and most of the activities concluded, CHESTNUT partners gathered at the final project conference in Velenje, Slovenia. Besides using the opportunity to gain greater visibility of the project results, partners discussed the plans for the future. Some of the pilot actions were presented to the conference participants in the video created by the Dubrovnik development agency DURA, partner in project responsible for communications, and some of them were presented by the partners themselves at the conference.

PBN ASSOCIATION PRESENTED SUMP IN SÁRVÁR FUA: MAYOR PROPOSED MEASURES WHICH MAY CONTRIBUTE TO SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

The aim of the seminar was to present and discuss the results and outcomes of the Sárvár FUA SUMP drafting, prepared in the framework of the WP4 of the CHESTNUT project. Every participant expressed their appreciation with the preparation of SUMP and all of them provided feedback. István Kondora, mayor of Sárvár, proposed some measures which may contribute to sustainable mobility: introduction of parking fee in Sárvár, building of new roundabouts, among other things.

PRESENTATION "EFFECTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRUISE TOURISM AND SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY IN CITIES" HELD IN ZADAR

Rector's palace in Zadar was the host of an interesting lecture to key stakeholders and the general public within project CHESTNUT. Besides information about general objectives and priorities of the project, the gathered multitude has also gotten the answers to questions like what are SUMPs and FUA. After the series of lectures have finished, a panel discussion has been held where participants actively tried to find the solution to raising mobility level at FUA Zadar.

LSG MEMBERS DISCUSSED URBAN MOBILITY AND MULTI-MODAL SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT DEVELOPMENT IN FUA ALBA IULIA

Organized in the framework of European Year of Multimodality, the meeting raised awareness on the importance of multimodality for the FUA transport system and the existing solutions and the urban mobility measures proposed to create a better environment for the communities and the businesses existing at FUA level. The first session focused on the project presentation and the process of SUMP preparation, and the second session focused on the urban mobility planning measures proposed at FUA level.

DURA PRESENTED PROJECt CHESTNUT AT THE 1ST DANUBE ROAD SAFETY CONFERENCE IN DUBROVNIK, CROATIA 

During the conference, Oliver Milošević from DURA presented CHESTNUT project goals, progress, and achievements. There was a roundtable discussion between all the participants on the thematic areas on how to plan investments for safer roads, what can we do to make vulnerable road users safer, how to build safety into intelligent transportation systems and how can the proactive approach of star ratings around schools make a difference. 
 

PROJECT CHESTNUT IS (ALMOST) OVER, WHAT'S NEXT: CONFERENCES & EVENTS ON SUSTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY

The European Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans is Europe's leading annual event for all those involved in putting the SUMP concept into practice (June 17-19, 2019, Groningen, The Netherlands). IMPACT>MOBILITY aims to unite the urban transportation ecosystem to deliver on-demand low-emission mobility services and create a sustainable business model for its emerging players (June 24-25, 2019, Amsterdam, The Netherlands). The International Conference on Urban Transport has successfully been reconvened for 25 years, always attracting a wide international spread of delegates (June 25-27, 2019, Aveiro, Portugal). The 17th edition of Europe's top sustainable urban mobility event, CIVITAS Forum Conference 2019, will gather the leading figures in the field from across the continent and beyond (October 2-4, 2019, Graz, Austria).
