Launched on 1st July 2020, the DANUrB+ project (“DANube Urban Brand + Building Regional and Local Resilience through the Valorization of Danube’s Cultural Heritage”), funded by the Interreg Danube Transnational Program, aims to foster resilient use of cultural heritage and resources of the peripheral and border regions along the Danube. In 30 months, it will create new opportunities for attractiveness in selected settlements and shrinking areas and activate underused cultural heritage to strengthen the Danube cultural identity.
DANUrB+ in a few words
Many cities and towns along the Danube river face a serious problem of population decrease, particularly in the low Danube area. The initiative builds on the work of the DANUrB project implemented in 2017-2019 and covering 7 countries, 20 partners and 22 cities. It collected data on heritage resources and stakeholders, developed thematic tours and organized several local programs. DANUrB+ continues this networked interregional approach, adding to the settlements and stakeholders already included in the Platform and Cultural Network "shrinking" towns and regions. Thus, several new towns and regions are involved: Svishtov (BG), Corabia (RO), Dobreta-Turnu Severin (RO), Sombor (RS), Baja, Szob (HU) and Gabčíkovo (SK), in which cultural heritage will be used to counteract negative socio-economic processes.

DANUrb+ - highlights
|

|
Changing minds, increasing awareness of the local and cross-cultural values, working on quality, and uniting stakeholders and local communities. DANube Urban Brand+ is about that.
The project aims at the creation of a DANUrB+ Quality Label, and ultimately, an enlarged Danube Cultural Promenade.
Identification of heritage sites will continue within the DANUrB Platform (www.danurb.eu), an online tool created within the DANUrB project. The platform provides efficient mapping and information on both heritage sites and stakeholders, as well as good practices along the river.

DANUrb+ Partnership

|
The DANUrB+ partnership consists of 19 partners (17 ERDF and 2 IPA) and 23 associated strategic partners from 6 countries: Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia. 10 consortium partners were already part of the DANUrB project including the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (HU) acting again as lead partner.

KICK-OFF AND partner meeting

The kick-off event and first partner meeting of the interregional DANUrB+ project, co-financed by the Interreg Danube Transnational Program 2014-2020, took place online via Microsoft Teams on September 25 and 26, 2020 with participants from 6 Danube countries.
