16-12-2020
ROAD SAFETY IS NO ACCIDENT(S)
As the holiday season is upon us, we find ourselves reflecting on the past year(s) of the RADAR project's presence in the road safety community and highlighting some of the achievements that made them ones to remember.
In the past two years the RADAR project has:
Developed country-tailored Road Safety Training Concept within which the RADAR project team of distinguished road safety experts trained and built capacities of more than 350 road safety experts
Translated all materials software for Road Safety Training Concept to 7 principal languages of partnering countries
Implemented 8 Road Infrastructure Safety Training courses of three-day live training sessions
Held4 Road Infrastructure Safety Webinars
Executed 4 Road Safety Expert Group (RSEG) meetings
Delivered 4 RSEG reports on four thematic areas
Completed 4 Study visits on four thematic areas
Organised 2 conferences with altogether of more than 200 participants
Found synergy with more than 20 other projects/campaigns/events/conferences
Launched ‘Road Safety Campaign: 2020 is a game-changer for road safety’ with altogether of 18 high-profile road safety experts and representatives of road safety authorities
Shared RADAR and inspired more than 550,000 people.
RADAR project has entered the final stage of implementation and it is important, maybe more than ever, to strengthen our work on road safety and highlight achievements of the project – with the focus on the future.
Looking on the horizon of the coming year we hope that our great cooperation will continue for a long time to come. With the Second UN Decade of Action for Road Safety being announced, we will deliver the first region-wide Danube Infrastructure Road Safety Improvement Strategy and that will get us a step closer to our wishes for a fruitful decade — a decade of fewer collisions and reduction of road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50 % from 2021 to 2030.
