19-10-2017

On the 3rd of October 2017 in Dobrich took place an interactive student seminar “Cultural Heritage from the WWI. Messages and Opportunities” as a part of the NETWORLD project. Lectors in the event were some of the most prominent Bulgarian scientists and experts from the Ministry of Defense, State Archive, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, National Institute for Immovable Heritage and other cultural and historical institutions. Their items were on the WWI topic and the most popular places of memory preserved in Bulgaria and abroad. Some of the speakers pointed the attention of the audience on the modern interpretations of “war” in tourism brunch and the possibilities for representation of WWI heritage in an attractive way.

This special event was dedicated to the students from the Shumen University “Konstantin Preslavsky” and University of Management – Dobrich. More than 80 young people and representatives in the seminar had discussions on the subject. The interactive part of the education included the creation of a message. On a white paper swallow (a symbol of pŠµace and hope) everyone left a personal message, inspired from the lectors’ words. “The war brings death and the peace – happiness” was written on one of the white birds. The idea of the organizers is every visitor of the museum to receive a paper swallow and to take the message away.

The most exiting part of the event was the final one. As it is well known young people perceive better when different the receptors are included. That's why we decided to ask a theatrical group to prepare and perform a play created on the works of our best short stories' writer Jordan Jovkov. In a full room some of his characters reminded to the audience the eternal motives of war, love, peace and humanism.
