Far before the launch the DRIM project tested the Danube Compass in four cities. The results cast light on improvements which can be made.

The four pilot actions took place in Ljubljana, Graz, Munich, and Zagreb between November 2017 and March 2018.

FACTS on the pilot actions:

A total of 294 people took part in the pilot activities.

142 participants were migrants and 152 were stakeholders

Each project partner visited 2 pilot actions acting as a peer reviewer and produced 1 report with recommendation and suggestions to increase the quality and user-friendliness of the Danube Compass.

There were 3 final reports: 1 summary of recommendations to improve the Danube Compass, 1 documentation, 1 report on peer reviews

The organisations in charge of implementing the pilot actions were the Employment Service of Slovenia, the Centre for Peace Studies, the Labour Department of the City of Munich and Caritas Academy of Diocese Graz-Seckau.

The outputs collected in the reports were crucial in order to implement some improvements to the information tool while the pilot actions were still taking place. This enabled the consortium to test again those changes and implement new changes if needed. The entire pilot action period was very dynamic because of the ongoing improvements and new tests. In consequence, some of the recommendations stated during the peer reviews of November and December have already been resolved in January and February.

Finally,  the Danube Compass was put online for desktop and mobile phone use according to the adjustments established at pilot action testing and peer reviews.

TOOLS, TOPICS AND TASKS - RESULTS

technical issues: for example we added a Google-based search engine, which clearly improved the results

content improvement: we agreed to write more clearly from a user’s point of view and add elements of gender equality

structures and tools: we would add for instance a contact form and rearrange subcategories
