Highlight of this meeting was the second Pilot Action Session on the fourth day, when partners presented their progress in Work Package 5: Pilot actions.

After almost all activities were completed in other work packages, the 7th project meeting held in Budapest was the overture into Pilot actions. As a reminder, there are four sub-groups cooperating to realize common pilot actions: Bike sharing (Velenje, Dimitrovgrad, Prague 9, Zadar), e-mobility (Weiz, Dubrovnik, PBN Sarvar), Multi-modal transport (Koper, Alba Iulia, Banja Luka) and Infrastructure cycling paths (Odereiu Secuiesc, Zuglo).

BIKE SHARING

• Velenje is responsible for the implementation of one bike rental station (within existing city bike rental scheme), purchasing of 5 e-bikes and for a smartphone app.
• Prague 9 will realize small investments according to the findings of the feasibility study: bike stands, charging stations, pilot bike sharing system.
• Dimitrovgrad is responsible for information and promotion of the recently launched bike-sharing system, feasibility study for the establishment of a bike-sharing system, and elaboration of rules and procedures for the bike-sharing system.
• Zadar establishes a bike-sharing system, setting up communication terminals, smart card system, web based acitivies for optimum promoting, support and management of smart card system.

E-MOBILITY

• Weiz invests in cargo bikes and creating a plan of implementing cargo bikes.
• Dubrovnik invests in e-bikes, installing electrical charging stations and activates campaings towards citizens and tourists.
• PBN Sarvar is preparing analysis and documentation to diffuse e-bikes, building new bicycle paths between the centre of the FUA and other municipalities, and purchases modern vehicles.

MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORT

• RDC Koper is responsible for a feasibility study for designing a multimodal transport scheme at FUA level.
• RDA Center/Alba Iulia analyses feasibility and opportunity of developing one or more multimodal terminals at regional level.
• LIR Evolution/Banja Luka is responsible for the realization of a feasibility study for a multimodal transport system at FUA level (wider region of Banja Luka) with a particular focus on exploitation of possibility of usage of e-bicycles and promotional campaigns, all integrated with PT.

INFRASTRUCTURE CYCLING PATHS

• Zuglo is responsible for a Feasibility Study for extension of green corridors plus bike path in Budapest 14, linked to Eurovelo 6. During the planning process, all the 8 municipalities, relevant professional and non-profit making organisations and citizens will be involved, together with the entire City of Budapest, Pest County and the Central Hungary Region. 
• Odereiu Secuiesc: feasibility analysis to bring bicycle trails on an existing road, connecting to the city peripheral residental area.

Large number of vehicles in one-way street

On the last day of the project meeting, there was a Study Visit to the Square of Novi Sad (Újvidék tér 3), where two primary schools are located. Separated and surrounded by narrow, one-way street, the biggest problem is the large number of vehicles passing and parking in places that are free of charge. Of course, this represents a danger for children under 14 who are still playful and do not keep an eye on traffic. Viktor Merker, senior project manager at Zuglò Municipality, announces the closure of the street for vehicles through the project Chestnut. He hopes to make more people cycling through this street in the future.

During the 5th Joint Learning Actions on the second day, project partners held 20 minutes' presentation on what was achieved, problems encountered, starting situation of the partner and final outcomes, solutions found, deviations, involvement of local stakeholders and target groups, etc. The third day was reserved for the Transnational Dissemination Event. Chestnut project partner, PBN's mobility expert Mihály Lados, presented project Chestnut, and highlighted its main activities during the EcoVeloTour kick-off conference held in Corvinus University.

The project officer of Interreg Danube's Joint Secretariat, Ana Leganel, was present at the meetings, monitoring the project reports.

The next project meeting is scheduled for February 2019 in Alba Iulia, Romania. The final meeting should be in April 2019 in Velenje, Slovenia, which is the lead partner of the project Chestnut.
