InnoSchool - Social needs mapping – an InnoSchool analysis in Romania

One of the tasks that all the InnoSchool partners had to undertake was the mapping of territorial social needs on national (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and regional (Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Austria and Republic of Moldova) levels for a proper development of InnoSchool Learning System (ILS) concept definition.
So, this month will be dedicated for sharing our results on social needs mapping and analyzing the trends, identifying possible explanation and conclusion, based on a specific methodology.
The social need identified by Romania on a regional level, more exactly Bihor County, was workforce migration.
Using a focus group with 10 students in Social Work from University of Oradea and interviews with 4 specialists in the same field (1 university lecturer, 1 associate professor, 1 social worker from County Hospital and 1 director of Oradea Social Community Administration) the representatives of ACTA Center where able to determine that the loss of active and qualified workforce in this region is an important social need. A large variety of groups are affected (e.g. doctors, caregivers, hospitals, family members etc.), for example qualified workers (painters, electricians) are getting fewer and harder to find.
Potential to solve this social need throughout Entrepreneurship is high, but aspects like salaries' increasing, reduction of taxes, providing fewer social help for active unemployed population have to be addressed. There are some programs that aim to meet this social need, like different public politics (increasing wages, minimum wage); Start-up Nation; Start-up Diaspora; Young Farmers, etc. but there is no guarantee of a work place after graduation.
Romania is faced with a loss of workforce migration but one of the solutions that can stand to solve this social need is entrepreneurial education in high school students to increase the chances that once they finish their studies they will be able to minimize this phenomenon. And more important becomes teaching students to implement what they learn about Entrepreneurship.
