The first workshop, which took place in the framework of the strategy elaboration, served to gain an overview of the market developments in bicycle tourism and the offers in Eastern Bavaria. Subsequently, the need for action for the sustainable development of cycle tourism in Eastern Bavaria was coordinated and measures were developed.

In another workshop, the subcontractor presented the results of its research on public transport services. Based on these research results, possibilities for the further development of the products were worked out together with all participants of the workshop.

During the workshops it became once again clear that the Danube cycle path is considered as an established and well-known long-distance cycle path. On the other hand, it became clear that day tours related to the Danube cycle path are difficult to find, although they are of great importance in cycle tourism. Therefore, it was agreed that the Danube cycle path should not only be offered as a long-distance cycle route. Also round tours or distance tours which lead to a railway station should be displayed prominently.

A first result of the workshops was therefore the publication of day tours related to the Danube cycle path on the websites of the Tourism Association of Eastern Bavaria.
