Cultural heritage shapes our everyday lives. It surrounds us in towns and cities, natural landscapes and archaeological sites.

What does this mean?

It means literature, arts and monuments, crafts learnt from our ancestors, the stories we tell our children, the food we enjoy …

Created representations of our cultural heritage have a social value for people. This value may be cultural, artistic, historical, archaeological, or anthropological. The deliberate act of safeguarding  cultural heritage of the past and present for the future is also known as conservation.

The term cultural heritage covers:

1. Cultural properties: tangilbe cultural heritage such as buldings, monuments, artworks, books etc.
2. Intangible cultural heritage: these include social values, traditions, folklore, knowledge, skills, lanuages  and other aspects of human activity
3. Natural heritage: include cultural landscapes; natural features that may have cultural attributes

The Danube region, much alike to the whole of Europe, is extremely rich in cultural and natural heritage. This is our shared wealth and has shaped who we are.

The Transdanube Travel Stories project aims to develop new narratives and trails in the Danube region, connecting the stories of single destinations and cultural routes into more extensive narratives, which create a sense of common heritage and shared values. Our project builds upon on the following cultural routes:

   Réseau Art Nouveau Network; 

       Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route.
