16-05-2022

As part of the ISTER project (dtp.interreg-danube.eu/approved-projects/ister), the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia (GI) organised a workshop at the House of the European Union on the topic "Heritage of the Roman routes as a development potential". With introductory words, Blaž Barborič addressed the audience and presented the ISTER project and its key starting points.

The lecturer, dr. Mihaela Triglav Čekada (GI) took us through interesting examples of hidden Roman remains that can be identified with topographic scanning using LiDAR technology.

In his lecture, dr. Matija Črešnar (the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts, Department of Archaeology / Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia) presented the connection between research and promotion of cultural heritage in the Danube Region and an example of good practice of the Iron-Age-Danube project, the Iron Age route in the Danube Region (www.ironagedanuberoute.com), which offers open-air archaeological museums, reconstructed buildings and archaeological nature.

At the end of the lectures, a lively and varied discussion developed between the participants of the event and the lecturers on the topic of development potentials offered by cultural heritage.
