Danube Cycle Plans - THE FIRST SLOVENIAN CYCLING CONFERENCE STARTS TODAY

28-09-2022

The first National Cycling Conference in Slovenia will take place on September 28 and 29, 2022 in Kranj. It was organized by the The Directorate for Sustainable Mobility and Transport Policy at the Ministry of Infrastructure, in cooperation with the Municipality of Kranj.

The first day will focus on connecting stakeholders at different decision-making levels with the aim of ensuring a better cycling infrastructure and a better cycling tourist product. About 30 speakers will discuss the role of cycling in the international recognition of Slovenia and its impact on tourism and the economy. On the second day, the participants will talk about the role of cycling in daily mobility and raise the question of how cycling as a form of sustainable mobility can contribute to society's decarbonisation goals.

Since cycling infrastructure is the base on which other support services for cycling can be developed, the organizers want to send a clear signal that cooperation with all stakeholders in the field of cycling, changing habits and traffic culture, and improving the coexistence of everyone on common routes are important for the success of the development of cycling.
