MAK ROUNDTABLE_ACTION PLAN FOR RANN IN THE DANUBE REGION

The Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna (MAK) has organized a national roundtable as part of the ACTION PLAN FOR RANN IN THE DANUBE REGION on 12th of October 2022 (2:30-5:30 p.m.). Representatives of several institutions have been invited, including representatives from the “Association of Licensed Guides of Vienna”, the “Austrian National Tourist Office”, the “Klimt Foundation” as well as the “Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning [ÖROK], Danube Region Strategy”. Furthermore Kathrin Pokorny-Nagel, Eva Adam-Maxa, Helena Grünsteidl and Helmut Lenhardt participated in the meeting on behalf of the MAK.

Kathrin Pokorny-Nagel (Project Manager) and Helena Grünsteidl (Project Assistant) welcomed the participants and presented the agenda of today’s roundtable.

The presentation, held by Helena Grünsteidl, highlighted the ArtNouveau2 project and its achievements and presented the Action Plan for RANN in the Danube region. The goals of the following discussion were to explore possibilities for expanding and supporting the operation of RANN, obtain feedback on the presented Action Plan, and gather relevant recommendations.

In summary, the participants of the MAK roundtable are thus of the opinion that RANN should more pronouncedly incorporate the tourism and science aspects. With reference to this, the focus should shift to the touristic marketing/promotion of RANN – here, for example, cooperation with tourism organizations could be useful. The high membership fees are generally seen as a significant impediment. In addition to this, increased staffing, including regional offices, is considered an unavoidable step toward intensifying contact between the members and the RANN central office.
