DANUrB+ - 3 NEW FREE TOURS CONTINUE REVEALING THE HIDDEN GEMS ALONG THE DANUBE

23-12-2022

Sombor, Calarasi, and Little Danube join the close-knit family of the DANUrB FREE PocketGuide audio tours on 01.01.2023!

Another special achievement for the DANUrB+ Project is the THREE additional PocketGuide audio tours that were scheduled for production until the end of 2022. They were visualized as a continuation of the development of the “Danube Cultural Promenade”, to strengthen the creation of a spatio-cultural comprehensive network. The tours are included to the 12 ones that are already available for everyone on the PocketGuide application for FREE (Check them out!).

All these tours represent some of the pilot sites and attractions in 7 different countries. They were designed and promoted to bring tourists to unusual heritage places, focusing on selected shrinking cities along the Danube River, and to experience and discover unique and non-common Danube.

Let’s immerse ourselves virtually in the beauty and secrets of Sombor, Calarasi, and Little Danube:

  • Serbia, “Sombor”

Are you ready to discover the amazing city of Sombor? Visit Zupanija City Hall and learn about the history of Serbia's biggest painting, the National Theatre of Sombor which has been operating since the 1880s, walk across Glavnjak, the main street where you can literally touch history and meet famous locals in person, and many more. Tie your shoes and let's go!

Take your time for approximately 2 hours, experience the vibration of the city, and embrace the tranquility of the Danube.

  • Slovakia, “Little Danube”

Glide with us past the shores of the Little Danube, the 137 km long meandering branch of the Danube that stretches from Bratislava to Kolarovo, where it flows into the Váh River. The island in between, called Zitny ostrov (meaning rye island), is a stunning location with gorgeous natural vistas that catch the eye from a distance and unique animal and plant life that are best appreciated through careful observation. Feel free to join at any point and take a rest at one of the camping sites whenever you get tired. Have fun!

New year, new possibilities to re/discover the hidden gems along the Danube! Don’t waste time and plan your trips!

PocketGuide is a location-based mobile application that guides you through the city by voice, just like a real tour guide. Once you have downloaded the tour you have chosen, you can use it in an offline mode. The DANUrB project aimed at creating a regional network through tourism and education to strengthen the “Danube” cultural identity and solidarity. Part of achieving this goal was giving the opportunity to every travel enthusiast to visit and learn about less popular places along the Danube River.
