Join our event: New skills for future jobs and the energy transition

20-04-2023

On Tuesday 25 April 2023 from 09:30 to 11:00 CET, the Danube Region Programme is excited to invite you to our online event during the 4th EU Macro-Regional Strategies Week on the New skills for future jobs and the energy transition.

Investing in skills development is crucial for the future prosperity and inclusiveness of the Danube region. As the world continues to change rapidly, it is important that the region is equipped with the necessary skills to stay competitive and adapt to new challenges. The Interreg Danube programme and the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) play an important role in promoting the uptake of new skills and retaining a skilled workforce in the region.

The Interreg Danube programme has been fully aligned with the objectives of the EUSDR since 2014. This alignment ensures that the programme's efforts directly contribute to the targets of the strategy, which is essential for the long-term prosperity and inclusiveness of the Danube region. It is also worth noting that the programme's focus on skills development has evolved over time. In the previous period, skills were addressed from a governance point of view, based on territorial analysis of the Danube region. However, in the new Danube Region Programme, social issues such as labor markets, skills, and employment are directly supported. This represents a significant step forward, as these topics are now being tackled directly in the context of a transnational programme.

During our session, panelists will discuss how projects in the 2014-20 programming period enabled skills development in entrepreneurship and the energy sector. They will share their experiences and discuss the opportunities and challenges that remain. In addition, the session will provide a platform for discussing the role of the new Danube Region Programme and the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in promoting it.
