SAVE THE DATES! INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS’ MEETING AND STUDY TRIPS IN HUNGARY, SLOVAKIA, AND AUSTRIA

 
 

The DANUrB+ International Partners’ Meeting will be held between 10th and 15th October 2021 in Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria. The Budapest University of Technology and Economics and the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava are hosting the event and have planned Study Trip to the Northern Section of the Danube on October 10th and 11th, Project Partner’s Meeting with Workshops in Bratislava on October 12th and 13th, and Western European Study Trip in Austria during October 14th and 15th.

HAVE YOU SEEN DANUBIA? – A FILMED GEOPOETIC JOURNEY ALONG THE DANUBE

 
 

Gael and Ramona from Des châteaux en l'air, a theatre company based in Strasbourg, France, together with their 9 & 13 years old kids Dora and Amos, decided to undertake in an extraordinary journey, and to share it with the audience in their hometown and around in November.

TOURISM NEAR BELENE AND GULYANTSI - MISSION POSSIBLE!

 
 

How to find 1000 free beds for tourists in a municipality without a single guest house or a hotel and can a former concentration camp become a tourist attraction? Answers to these and other questions were found by BlueLink experts, together with representatives of the municipalities, business, and local people in Belene and Gulyantsi, Bulgaria. On September 2 and 3, 2021, were held workshops in both municipalities that aimed to identify ways to use the rich but still little known cultural and historical heritage in the region, and to create new opportunities for tourism and business.

SCHOOLS MATTER TO THE DANUBE: MEETING OF DANURB+ SCHOOL PARTNERS IN CROATIA 02.09.2021

 
 

On September 2nd , 2021, PP Nansen Dialogue Centre held a meeting with teachers and other representatives of schools, who are interested in organizing and participating in educational program within the DANUrB+ project. Five schools (4 primary schools and 1 high school), are enrolled in the project from 5 communities located along the Danube (Zmajevac Primary School, Darda Primary School, Dalj Primary School, Ilok Primary School, Vukovar School of Economics).

THE BEST CHEFS WON A BOAT TRIP AT THE DANUBE RIVER FESTIVAL IN BELENE 02-03.07.2021

 
 

For the fifth year in a row the Municipality of Belene celebrated the International Day of the Danube River - June 29, with a festival. This year the event took place on July 2 and 3. A culinary competition "Danube Table" was held as part of the festival and the prize for the winners was a boat trip on the Danube, provided by BlueLink within the project DANube Urban Brand + Building Regional and Local Resilience through the Valorization of Danube’s Cultural Heritage (DANUrB+).

SCHOOLS MATTER TO THE DANUBE : THE DANURB+ SUMMER SCHOOL FOR URBAN EXPLORATION WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH IN GIURGIU

 
 

This summer throughout the month of July 2021, Urboteca and Association for Urban Transition ran the DANUrB+ Summer School: Urban Exploration Workshops for Youth as part of the local activation of the international project DANUrB+ in Giurgiu. The project, which aims at valorising the local danubian heritage was developed in partnership by Association for Urban Transition, "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism and Giurgiu Municipality. The programme was tailored for young people interested in discovering Giurgiu with new eyes and inexploring the heritage of the city through its buildings, streets, spaces and collective stories with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the local challenges and opportunities.

STAKEHOLDERS MEET IN EIBENTHAL, ROMANIA 28.07.2021

 
 

As a result of previous meetings and online activities in the DANUrB+ project, the first face to face workshop involving stakeholders and Associated Partners from the Romanian Danube Gorges took place in Eibenthal (Dubova, Romania) on July 28th, 2021. Visit Banat were the guests of the event, among other stakeholders, ASPs, and representatives from the Iron Gates Natural Park Administration, county council, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and tourism entrepreneurs.

STAKEHOLDERS MEET IN SILISTRA, BULGARIA 07-13.07.2021

 
 

Between 7th to 13th of July 2021, representatives of New Bulgarian University, a partner in the DANUrB+ project, visited the town of Silistra. A series of meetings with stakeholders and representatives of local institutions and businesses were held at the premises of the Municipality. The Municipality of Silistra, being an associated strategic partner in the project, hosted the event and participants were welcomed by the Deputy Mayor for Spatial Planning, the Chief architect of the Municipality and other representatives, who jointly with the representatives of the university discussed the spatial planning issues in the region. Representatives of other institutions, such as local NGOs, the Srebarna Natural History Museum, took actively part in the discussion panels.

ACROSS THE DANUBE: PONTOON BRIDGE BETWEEN HUNGARY AND SLOVAKIA – THE BUILDING CAMP IN SZOB

 
 

In DANUrB+ project, the university partners in the field of teaching and researching, architecture and urban planning (in Bratislava, Budapest, Timisoara, Belgrade, Sofia, and Bucharest) play a leading role. The theme of several design subjects is related to the program and the proposed interventions are implemented together with the students in building summer camps and planned international creative weeks. On the first weekend of the Ipoly building camp in July 2021, a symbolic project was implemented in response to the pandemic situation and the transformation of human relations: 45 participants built a 40-meter canoe bridge between Ipolydamásd, Hungary and Helemba, Slovakia. The municipality of Pest County and students from BME, Faculty of Architecture were responsible for the execution.
