CHESTNUT - 5th Transnational Meeting: SUMPs will come closer to their final form next month in Dubrovnik

24-04-2018

Dubrovnik is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia. Because of the huge number of cruise ships that dock there, Dubrovnik has mayor problems with mobility and traffic jams in the city center. CHESTNUT partners will be able to check out by themselves how does that look like - at the 5th Transnational Meeting hosted by Dura. At the same time they will be able to get acquainted with the solutions Dura aims to detect and promote through this project to contribute to the solution of this burning urban issue.

Reducing motorized traffic

Other cities in the partnership have similar though speciffic situations. Thanks to the project CHESTNUT and the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans that will be built through it, each of these cities will try to deal with reducing motorized traffic and developing new multimodal forms of transport.

SUMPs will come closer to their final form right in Dubrovnik. Each city partner will present what they have done regarding this activity. Based on unified methodology and exchange of experiences, documents that contribute to the achievement of the project objectives will be created.

Old Town & Study Visit

4-day event will take place in Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel. The first day will be opened by the bilateral partner meeting at Dura offices. At the end of the second day there is Old Town & Study Visit – partners will visit Dubrovnik Smart Park, first Croatian smart street, and lastly - Port of Dubrovnik (the cause of most traffic problems, arrival of thousands cruise ship passengers). The meeting will end with a transnational event that will promote CHESTNUT activites and results to general public.

CHESTNUT partners are expected to meet again on 27-28 June in Banja Luka, and finally on the October 5 in Budapest where the final touches regarding the SUMPs should be made. SUMPs are expected to be finalized by the end of the year by all partner FUAs, and publicly presented probably during November 2018.
