REFOCuS - Walking the walk through the forest transects in Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia

03-06-2019

Previously we talked about need for walking through the forest transects for the purpose of collecting data about status of riparian forests in the Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve. Finally, it is time to walk the walk! Our colleagues from BFW are in charge of this activity and supported by the local teams of experts. Data collection includes wood stock and vitality assessment, looking for forest pest and diseases and many more. Those will be collected in all project countries but specific duration of the activity per country will depend on the number of transects in each country and weather conditions. The weather, at least in Croatia, has not been on our side. This May was on the rainiest since the beginning of measurements in Croatia. However, we expect the activities to be finished in time.
