Innovation for dementia in the Danube Region - international project INDEED

Introduction

The INDEED international project is based on the current situation in the Danube Region, where the main gaps in care for patients with dementia are: 1) lack of knowledge and skills of relevant professional groups (general practitioners, internists, physiotherapists), 2) lack of mutual understanding, cooperation and coordination between these groups, 3) lack of facilities specific to patients with dementia (day centers, special care units).

Aim

The aim of the INDEED project is to improve the care system for patients with dementia in the Danube Region and to contribute to the implementation of national strategies to improve the quality of life of people with cognitive impairment and their family carers.
 
Method
We use traditional educational formats (presentations, brochures), e-learning courses and webinars to: 1) create interdisciplinary educational programs aimed at institutions, 2) support networking of actors in the care of dementia, 3) advise entrepreneurs and start-ups that deal with this issue with business strategy.
 
Results
The creation of an extensive internet platform is in the process. 24 articles have been published on the project website. The INDEED facebook page has got 278 likes. So far we have 23 posts and 56 followers on Instagram. Communication activities raise awareness among target groups about the importance of improving care for patients with dementia in the Danube Region and contribute to the implementation of national dementia strategies.
 
Conclusion
INDEED project is an important and necessary contribution to the Danube Region, which improves the quality of life of patients with dementia.
