CREATIVE MAPPING OF THE ART NOUVEAU HERITAGE

ART NOUVEAU – COOL NOUVEAU IN BRATISLAVA

On 15 March and 24 May, 2022 Faculty of architecture and design of the Slovak University of Technology will organise educational workshops – creative mapping of the Art Nouveau heritage titled “ART NOUVEAU – COOL NOUVEAU IN BRATISLAVA”. In cooperation with a local tourist organisation Bratislava Tourist Board additional guided city tour for the students will take place. The activities are focused on the young generation who is interested in the architectural heritage of the Art Nouveau in Bratislava.

The goal is to promote the most important architectural works and creators of the Viennese and Hungarian Art Nouveau in Bratislava and Art Nouveau architectural heritage of the Danube region in general, via identification of the characteristic architectural features, with a focus on the ornament. The educational tools used in this activity are questionnaires, short documentary video and an educational leaflet with a map of the city. The students (all under 18) will participate in research and documentation activity consisting of object selection, resources study, photographs, sketches of the Art Nouveau buildings, details, ornaments, patterns, abstraction. An additional activity consists of textile painting – THE ART NOUVEAU ORNAMENT – using templates with the Art Nouveau patterns, where the participants will be able to create a T-shirt / bag with a unique Art Nouveau design.

The workshops are part of the Slovak participation of the ARTNOUVEAU2 project within the Danube Transnational Program Interreg scheme co-financed by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA II). The Slovak partner of the project is the Faculty of Architecture and Design STU in Bratislava.

The guided city tour is carried out with the financial support of the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic.
