Lenti, Hungary - UNESCO Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Mura Drava Danube (TBR MDD) is connecting 12 protected areas and uniting 5 countries along 3 rivers into world's first 5-country biosphere reserve. The area known as the Amazon of Europe (AoE) represents the largest and most preserved free-flowing river system in Central Europe. Pristine natural beauty, endangered habitats, and diverse cultural traditions have enormous potential for sustainable tourism, while underdeveloped border regions face a lack of capacities, unemployment, and emigration.

Amazing Amazon of Europe 11th SCOM and Final conference

From 30th of November until 1st of December 2022, 11th SCOM and final conference of the project happened in Lenti, Hungary. Aims of the meeting were to focus on finalization of the project and to get an overview of the progress of each work package. Project partners met one last time to discuss what has been reached during the project and what are the plans for the future.  

After Steering Committee Meeting, the final conference took place. Part of this was presentations of three-four themes in the area - Hungarian trends in active tourism, The future(s) of cultural heritage. Sustainability as the new normal and Creative destruction presented by project stakeholders and project partners.  The presentations were followed by a discussion panel.
